I wonder if there is anyone who doesn’t enjoy a good hot spring? At the “Hakone Kowakien Yunnesun” hot spring in Japan you can enjoy a variety of eccentric baths like “Wine bath”, “Green Tea Bath”, “Coffee Bath” and many other crazy flavors. Despite its popularity within the country, this kind of bath may still bewilder some of the foreinger who come to visit the hot spring. Perhaps it is because people spend less time in hot baths abroad than in Japan. However, this time we found an interesting story about a spa in Austria and we would like to share it with you.
In the west of Austria, in Tarrentz, the fermentation cellars of the old castle at Schloss Starkenberger have been turned into a beer spa. These kind of beer baths have been established in before in Germany and Chzec Republicc. At Schloss Starkenberger there are 7 pools in total containing different brews. While you sit and relax in the hot bath, you can also order a cold beer to drink from the pool.
Not to mention that beer has a healing effect on skin and hair and it's use as spa therapy dates back to ancient Rome and Egypt. As a matter of fact, it is said that Cleopatra herself has once bathed into such spas. If you ever find yourself in Austria, don't forget to treat yourself to a beer spa!
